Linton Primary School

Overview

Linton Primary School has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at its previous inspection. The school is described as ‘intentionally inclusive’, where strong relationships and high expectations create a happy and safe environment for all pupils. Inspectors found that the school successfully supports vulnerable children and prepares pupils well for their next steps.

Strengths

• Pupils benefit from ‘strong and trusting relationships’ and feel safe, with staff dealing with issues swiftly.
• The curriculum is ‘suitably ambitious’ and effectively breaks down knowledge into manageable steps, aiding retention.
• Reading is a high priority, supported by a well-stocked library and a consistent phonics approach.
• Robust systems ensure pupils with additional needs are identified promptly and receive therapeutic support.
• Governors provide effective challenge and support, prioritising staff and pupil well-being.

Areas to improve

• Teachers should design activities that address gaps in prior knowledge to ensure all pupils can build knowledge cumulatively.
• Staff need to develop expertise to teach early writing consistently, as current strategies are not fully embedded.
