Mcclintock Primary School

Overview

This sustaining improvement inspection was conducted while staff were participating in industrial action involving "action short of strike," resulting in a refusal to co-operate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) was unable to evaluate the quality of learning, teaching, or the school’s capacity for improvement. The report concludes that the ETI is "unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education and safeguarding being provided for the children."

Strengths

• The report identifies no strengths, as the inspection was unable to evaluate classroom practice or self-evaluation due to non-co-operation.
• The principal remained in post since the previous inspection in May 2016.
• The previous inspection had evaluated the school as having a "high level of capacity for sustained improvement."

Areas to improve

• The employing authority, governors, and staff must "plan for, and manage, issues related to the sustainability of the school provision and school budget."
• The school must address the lack of evidence regarding safeguarding arrangements, which did not reflect Department of Education guidance.
• The school is designated a "high priority for future inspection with no further notice."

Safeguarding

The school did not provide evidence that safeguarding arrangements reflected Department of Education guidance, and the ETI will return within six weeks to evaluate these arrangements specifically.
