Overview

This sustaining improvement inspection was significantly limited by industrial action, as teachers refused to cooperate with the inspection team. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) was unable to fully evaluate the quality of learning and teaching or assure stakeholders of the overall quality of education provided.

• Year 6 pupils reported "interesting learning experiences" and valued access to a "wide variety of cultural and sporting extra-curricular opportunities."
• Children found approaches in reading, mathematics, and ICT "motivating," particularly when learning contained "additional challenge and opportunities to extend their interests, creativity and thinking skills."
• Pupils articulated a clear understanding of diversity and the importance of "accepting difference in others."
• The school development plan is described as "well-informed by systematic self-evaluation processes," underpinned by a "well-embedded culture of continuous reflection."
• Staff complete "detailed action plans and related professional development" to improve their knowledge and skills.

Areas to improve

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements "reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education" and children feel safe, though the ETI was unable to evaluate the practical outworking of these arrangements due to the industrial action.
