Milltown Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action, with teachers refusing to co-operate with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI was unable to evaluate the quality of education, stating it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” The school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• The principal co-operated with the inspection team regarding her safeguarding responsibilities.
• The school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”
• The school has partnered with two local schools for shared education through Peace IV funding.

Areas to improve

• The employing authority, governors, and staff must “plan for, and manage, issues related to the sustainability of the school provision and school budget” to address current and future needs.
• The ETI was unable to evaluate outcomes for learners, quality of provision, or leadership and management due to the lack of co-operation.

Safeguarding

The report states that while arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements for safeguarding in the school” owing to the industrial action.
