Bridge Integrated Primary School

Overview

The inspection was significantly constrained by industrial action, as teaching staff refused to cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) was “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” The report states that no performance levels are available for outcomes, provision, or leadership due to this lack of cooperation.

Strengths

• The principal cooperated with the inspection team regarding her safeguarding responsibilities.
• Children reported that they “felt safe in school and knew what to do if they had any concerns about their well-being.”
• Safeguarding arrangements were found to “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”

Areas to improve

• The school should “continue to implement the appropriate planned review of policies and procedures to reflect current guidance and best practice” for safeguarding.
• The boys’ toilets require refurbishment “in the interests of privacy and the well-being of the children.”
• The school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice” due to the inability to evaluate educational quality.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” owing to the industrial action.
