Orangefield Primary School

Overview

This Sustaining Improvement Inspection was conducted in May 2017 following a previous evaluation of "very good" effectiveness. Due to industrial action involving "action short of strike," teachers did not cooperate with inspectors, limiting the evidence available for evaluation. Consequently, the ETI states it is "unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children."

Strengths

• Samples of children’s work showed a "wide range of writing forms" with a standard described as "very good."
• Children demonstrated they "write for a range of audiences" and articulated a confident understanding of digital tools.
• There is "clear evidence of progress" on areas identified within the school development plan.
• Data is used effectively to identify children requiring additional support or who may be "potentially underachieving."
• Staff share good practice regularly, supported by "wide-ranging monitoring and evaluation strategies."

Areas to improve

• The report does not list specific areas for improvement but notes the ETI is "unable to assure... of the quality of education" due to the lack of cooperation during the inspection.

Safeguarding

The school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements are "satisfactory" and reflect departmental guidance, with children reporting they feel safe; however, the ETI was "unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements" due to the industrial action.
