Our Lady Of The Annunciation Primary School

Overview

The inspection found a school where staff, led by the headteacher, have created a “calm, purposeful learning environment” underpinned by “embedded Gospel values.” This approach is leading to “very positive attainment and achievement for most children,” with evaluations of “good” for learning, teaching and assessment, and “very good” for raising attainment and achievement.

Strengths

• Staff have established a positive environment that results in “very positive attainment and achievement for most children.”
• Children demonstrate “high levels of engagement in their learning,” are “proud of their school,” and show “very positive behaviour and kindness to each other.”
• The staff’s approach to teaching writing is “very effective,” resulting in children’s attainment in writing being of a “very high standard.”

Areas to improve

• Staff should develop approaches to planning children’s learning to “better meet all children’s needs,” including those requiring “greater challenge with their learning.”
• Staff should continue to develop approaches to play-based learning to ensure it is a “strong feature of children’s learning experiences.”

Safeguarding

The report does not contain specific narrative commentary on safeguarding arrangements, though the inspection process involved working closely with the headteacher and staff.
