Parkgate Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action, with teaching staff refusing to cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) states it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” The report assigns “No performance level available” for outcomes, provision, and leadership, and marks overall effectiveness as “Unable to assure the quality of education.”

Strengths

• The principal cooperated with the inspection team regarding safeguarding responsibilities.
• Safeguarding arrangements were found to “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”
• Year 6 children spoke “confidently about all aspects of school life” and demonstrated knowledge of anti-bullying procedures.
• Children confirmed they know “what to do if they have any concerns about their well-being.”

Areas to improve

• The ETI was unable to evaluate outcomes for learners, quality of provision, or leadership and management due to the lack of cooperation.
• The school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice” to address the inability to assure educational quality.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
