Pinxton Nursery School

Overview

Pinxton Nursery School continues to be a good school, providing a caring environment where children feel safe and secure. Leaders prioritise an ambitious curriculum focused on ‘playing and learning for living’, fostering strong relationships between staff, children, and parents.

Strengths

• Children are eager to attend and form close bonds with staff in a ‘caring and nurturing environment’.
• The curriculum is ‘ambitious and well sequenced’, with particular strength in early mathematics and reading.
• Staff effectively support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities, ensuring they access learning alongside peers.
• There is a strong ‘family feel’, with parents praised for their involvement and staff valued for supportive leadership.
• Children develop independence, resilience, and respect, engaging positively with their local community and diverse cultures.

Areas to improve

• Leaders should support staff to ensure consistent, high-quality interactions that develop children’s knowledge of concepts through talk.
• Further training is required so all staff can consistently support every group of children, including those who speak English as an additional language.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective, with a strong culture where staff are vigilant, well-trained to identify concerns, and work closely with other agencies to keep children safe.
