Ripley Nursery School

Overview

Ripley Nursery School continues to be a good school, providing a "warm and inviting" environment that sparks children’s curiosity. Highly skilled staff nurture every child, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), fostering independence and strong attitudes towards learning.

Strengths

• The curriculum is "ambitious" and "well-considered," with swift action taken when adjustments are needed to meet children’s needs.
• Staff possess a "deep understanding of how children learn," using opportune moments to support communication, language, and creative expression.
• Children thrive in a calm, cooperative atmosphere, following routines well and making good choices in their behaviour.
• There is a "strong partnership with parents and carers," who describe the setting as a "home-from-home environment."
• Outdoor learning is highly valued, helping children develop physical health and mental well-being through activities like visiting the local allotment.

Areas to improve

• The movement and dance aspects of the expressive arts and design curriculum are "not as well sequenced as other aspects," limiting how well children can express ideas through dance.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
