Overview: St Augustine's Catholic Primary School is a good school that has made significant improvements since the last inspection. Pupils are wonderful ambassadors for the school's core value of 'being just and responsible', and they behave well, taking responsibility for their own actions. • Teachers do not use assessment consistently well to plan learning, which holds some pupils back and leads to a small number of pupils becoming restless in the classroom.
• The school's expectations of some pupils are not high enough, reducing the time available for them to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to achieve at the higher standard.
• The school should ensure that their expectations are sufficiently high in all subjects, and that learning is well matched to the needs of pupils, so that all pupils achieve as well as they should.
