This sustaining improvement inspection was significantly limited because teachers did not cooperate due to industrial action. Consequently, the ETI could not fully evaluate the quality of education or teaching, stating it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” The school is designated as a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Senior leadership cooperated with the inspection regarding safeguarding responsibilities.
• Year 7 pupils reported “very good opportunities to develop their leadership capabilities” through initiatives like the eco-council.
• Children spoke enthusiastically about their involvement in shared education activities with neighbouring schools.
• Pupils reported that they “feel safe in school” and are aware of procedures for raising safety concerns.

Areas to improve

• The school needs to “complete a risk assessment for the entry arrangements to the school.”

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” but the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
