Staghills Nursery School

Overview

Staghills Nursery School has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection, where it was judged outstanding for overall effectiveness. The school provides a happy and stable environment where children feel secure, behave well, and are well-prepared for primary school.

Strengths

• Children arrive "full of smiles" and feel "happy and relaxed," supported by "kind and caring staff."
• The curriculum is "organised seamlessly" to help children build secure knowledge, with high expectations for those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).
• Staff are "highly skilled at engaging children in talk," prioritising early communication and language skills through stories and songs.
• Children develop independence and resilience, learning to express their emotions and understand "fundamental British values."
• The school actively supports staff well-being and manages workload positively following a period of turbulence.

Areas to improve

• Teaching does not always "revisit and reinforce important learning," meaning some children do not deepen their knowledge as well as they could.
• Some children are frequently absent, hindering their learning; the school must identify attendance concerns effectively and work with families to promote regular attendance.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
