Overview

The inspection was significantly limited by industrial action, with almost all teachers refusing to cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) states it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” No performance levels were assigned for outcomes, provision, or leadership due to the lack of available evidence.

Strengths

• The most able Year 7 pupils “read with fluency and expression” and demonstrate a “secure knowledge and understanding of key concepts” in mathematics.
• Parents and non-teaching staff reported high satisfaction, noting the school is “well led and managed” and that staff work “collegially in the best interests of the children.”
• Governors show a “high degree of involvement” and exercise the “challenge function” to support improvement and manage resources efficiently.
• The school holds a Green Flag award as an Eco-School and was accredited as a “Level 1 Rights Respecting School.”

Areas to improve

• The school development plan’s action plans are “not informed sufficiently by robust analysis of the school’s internal performance data.”
• The ETI was unable to evaluate progression in learning, wider skills, curriculum quality, teaching effectiveness, or strategic leadership due to the lack of cooperation.

Safeguarding

The report states that “satisfactory arrangements for safeguarding reflect broadly the guidance issued by the relevant Departments” and that children feel “happy and safe in school.”
