Ty Sign Primary School

Overview

Ty Sign Primary School provides a "welcoming, caring and inclusive environment" with strong relationships and a positive atmosphere. However, the report states the school is "in need of significant improvement" due to inconsistencies in practice, poor self-evaluation, and insufficient progress in pupil learning.

Strengths

• Staff "value pupils highly" and effectively support their well-being, particularly within the Specialist Resource Base.
• Behaviour is "good," with pupils generally being "polite, kind and respectful."
• There is a "good culture of staff working and planning together."
• Pupils develop a "strong sense of belonging" to their local community and Wales through varied cultural opportunities.

Areas to improve

• Improve self-evaluation and school improvement processes to focus on immediate needs and include all staff and governors.
• Improve attendance and punctuality, as irregular attendance hinders learning progress.
• Ensure staff engage in high-quality professional learning to address inconsistencies in teaching.
• Develop a whole-school understanding of curriculum progression to improve pupil progress.

Safeguarding

Staff work hard to ensure the school is a safe place, and the governing body supports efforts to ensure pupils feel "safe, valued and celebrated."
