This sustaining improvement inspection was conducted in February 2020, but the evaluation was severely limited because teachers participated in industrial action and refused to co-operate with the inspection team. Consequently, the ETI was unable to assess the quality of learning, teaching, or the school’s capacity for self-evaluation. Strengths

• Year 6 pupils were described as “very courteous, friendly and immensely proud of their school.”
• Children spoke positively about their learning, highlighting enjoyment of a “wide range of extra-curricular activities.”
• Pupils valued opportunities for leadership roles, including serving on “eco-councils,” as “playground buddies” and “anti-bullying ambassadors.”
• Students reported receiving strong “pastoral support” from all staff members.

Areas to improve

Safeguarding

The report notes that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance issued by the Department of Education” and that children feel safe, but the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
