Check the area around this school
93rd of 258 primary schools in Birmingham we can score, 291 in total — the rest without enough published data. Local and same-phase on purpose: a national table mostly measures who attends.
Narrow the comparison to schools whose pupils have similar backgrounds and it does better still — 7.4/10 against 1,299 of them, against 5.9/10 nationally. Both figures are results only, without the inspection grade. A lower figure here means a stronger comparison group, not a weaker school.
How this is worked out
| Measure | Percentile | Weight | Adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Expected standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 75.0 · 78 | 40% | 3.11 |
| Ofsted | 52 | 35% | 1.82 |
| Higher standard (RWM) 2024/25 | 3.0 · 29 | 25% | 0.73 |
Each measure is read as a position among comparable schools, so a school in the middle of the country scores 5. Full method.

Worth asking on a visit
Since the higher standard attainment is below the national median, what specific support is provided to pupils aiming for that level? How does the school manage class sizes given the current roll exceeds the designated places?
What Ofsted said about Woodhouse Primary Academy
Overview
Woodhouse Primary Academy has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection. Pupils enjoy a broad, ambitious curriculum and feel safe within a nurturing ethos that promotes inclusion and high attendance. The school continues to provide a positive environment where children are well-supported, particularly in early reading and mathematics.
Strengths
- Pupils ‘love coming to school’ and benefit from an ‘ambitious, well-sequenced curriculum’ that includes bespoke programmes for those with additional needs.
- Reading instruction is strong, with staff delivering the phonics programme ‘consistently well’ from Reception onwards, helping pupils gain confidence as fluent readers.
- The school demonstrates an ‘inclusive nature’, with pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities fully integrated into lessons and supported by the ‘rainbow room’.
- Behaviour is excellent, with pupils showing respect for one another and suspensions being ‘extremely rare’.
- Leaders are ‘very mindful of staff’s workload’, having removed unnecessary tasks to ensure leaders have time to manage their responsibilities effectively.
Areas to improve
- The school must ensure systems for checking pupils’ learning are consistent across all subjects, as inconsistencies in the wider curriculum mean some ‘gaps in knowledge and misconceptions are not always addressed’.
- The school should ensure pupils have a ‘secure understanding of the themes that encompass British values’, as some older pupils currently have a limited understanding of concepts such as democracy and tolerance.
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
