Strengths

• Provision for pupils’ well-being is a strength, with initiatives like the “Dosbarth Derwen” nurture class helping pupils regulate behaviour and improve self-esteem.
• Leaders and staff know pupils well, using effective questioning, assessment, and feedback to “move learning on.”
• Provision for pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) is strong, including tailored support from teaching assistants.
• The curriculum is “broad and balanced,” effectively supporting pupils to develop a sense of ‘cynefin’ (belonging) and empathy.
• The headteacher is a “compassionate, caring leader” who works successfully with the governing body and community to drive improvement.

Areas to improve

• Opportunities for pupils to apply their literacy, numeracy, and digital skills in “relevant, real-life situations” are inconsistent across the school.
