Ysgol Harri Tudur / Henry Tudor School

Overview

The report states that the school provides a "caring and supportive environment" but judges standards, wellbeing, and care as "Unsatisfactory and needs urgent improvement." It notes that while the headteacher has managed recent changes successfully, leaders have not secured "sufficient or sustained improvements" in key areas such as pupil outcomes, teaching quality, behaviour, and attendance.

Strengths

• The school offers a "wide range of beneficial vocational courses" and "valuable opportunities to enhance the curriculum," including drama clubs and educational visits.
• Provision for pupils with additional learning needs is described as "comprehensive and well organised," with a dedicated resource centre for autistic pupils.
• Many teachers "foster productive working relationships with pupils" and provide "good language models" with clear instructions.
• Sixth form pupils act as "positive role models" through prefect and peer mentor roles.

Areas to improve

• Raise standards, particularly at key stage 4 and in the sixth form.
• Improve pupils’ behaviour and attendance.
• Improve the quality of teaching and assessment, including more precise written feedback.
• Strengthen the effectiveness and accountability of leaders at all levels.

Safeguarding

The report states that policies and procedures for safeguarding are "generally sound," although arrangements for dealing with incidents of bullying and poor behaviour are "not robust enough."
