Loreto Grammar School

Overview

The inspection was significantly limited by industrial action, as teachers refused to cooperate with the process. Consequently, the ETI could not evaluate classroom teaching or fully assess safeguarding arrangements, stating it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the pupils.”

Strengths

• Pupils “continue to achieve consistently high outcomes in public examinations at Key Stage 4 and post 16.”
• A “broad range of targeted interventions” supports pupils with specific pastoral and academic needs, which students appreciate for their “positive impact.”
• Leadership skills are developed through “an extensive range of curricular and extra- curricular opportunities,” including community work and shared education programmes.
• Pupils spoke “confidently and eloquently” about how these opportunities improved their communication, planning, and team-working skills.

Areas to improve

• The school has identified the need to “continue to measure the impact of interventions at whole-school level.”

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflects broadly the guidance issued by the Department of Education,” and pupils reported they “feel safe and are aware of what to do if they have any concerns,” though the ETI could not fully evaluate the outworking of these arrangements due to the industrial action.
