Beis Hatalmud School

Overview

The progress monitoring inspection found that the school “does not meet all of the independent school standards that were checked.” While the school has made progress in establishing governance and improving fire safety and attendance systems, it continues to fail to meet standards regarding curriculum quality, leadership consistency, and pupils’ spiritual and moral development.

Strengths

• Safeguarding arrangements are “effective,” with staff trained to identify risks and concerns reported “in a timely manner.”
• Fire evacuation procedures and health and safety systems are now “robust” and compliant with statutory guidance.
• Attendance registers are maintained correctly using an electronic system, allowing leaders to “robustly track, monitor and analyse patterns.”
• A new board of governors has been established, with members possessing “relevant expertise and experience” to challenge the school.

Areas to improve

• The curriculum lacks suitable plans and schemes of work across many subjects, leaving “gaps in pupils’ knowledge.”
• Pupils do not learn about all protected characteristics, meaning they are “not fully prepared for life in modern Britain.”
• The relationships and sex education (RSE) curriculum “does not meet the requirements of the statutory guidance,” with no resources for secondary-age pupils.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding standards continue to be met, describing arrangements as “effective” with a suitable policy and trained staff.
