Bronte Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teachers did not cooperate with the process. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) states it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” The report notes that no performance levels are available for outcomes, provision, or leadership, and the school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Year 6 children were observed to be “respectful, confident and articulate” when discussing their learning.
• Pupils spoke positively about opportunities to develop leadership roles, citing responsibilities such as “computer and bus monitors” and membership of school councils.
• Children reported that they “feel safe in the school” and are aware of procedures for raising safety concerns.
• Safeguarding arrangements were found to “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”

Areas to improve

• The report identifies no specific areas for improvement because the ETI was “unable to evaluate” learning outcomes, curriculum quality, or leadership effectiveness due to the lack of teacher cooperation.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” owing to the industrial action.
