Denamona Primary School

Overview

This monitoring inspection report states that the ETI was unable to evaluate the quality of education because staff and the principal engaged in "action short of strike" and refused to co-operate. Consequently, the report concludes that the inspectorate is "unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education and safeguarding being provided for the children."

Strengths

• The report identifies no strengths, as it explicitly states that "no key findings can be reported" due to non-participation.
• The school was unable to demonstrate how actions taken led to improvement for learners.
• The inspection could not focus on evaluating action to promote improvement or its impact on learning and teaching.

Areas to improve

• The report states it is important that the employing authority, governors, and staff plan for and manage issues related to the "sustainability of the school provision and school budget."
• The school is designated as a "high priority for future inspection with no further notice."
• The report notes that the ETI was unable to fully evaluate safeguarding arrangements, including discussions with children, due to ongoing industrial action.

Safeguarding

The report initially states the school did not provide evidence of satisfactory arrangements, but a subsequent addendum confirms that by June 2017, the school provided evidence that arrangements "reflect broadly the guidance issued by the Department of Education," though ongoing industrial action prevented a full evaluation.
