Glendermott Primary School

Overview

The inspection was significantly limited by industrial action, as teachers refused to cooperate with the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI). Consequently, the ETI states it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.” The report notes that “no performance level available” for outcomes, provision, or leadership, and designates the school as a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Year 6 pupils reported that they “enjoy challenge in their work” and “appreciate the support their teachers give them.”
• Children expressed enjoyment of reading, citing the “wide variety of books they have read.”
• Pupils valued opportunities to develop skills in music, gardening, and sports, as well as taking on responsibility in “eco- and school- councils.”
• Children enjoyed “shared learning experiences with their peers within the shared education partnership.”
• Safeguarding arrangements were found to “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”

Areas to improve

• The report does not list specific areas for improvement because the ETI was “unable to evaluate” outcomes, quality of provision, or leadership due to the lack of teacher cooperation.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education” and that Year 6 pupils “feel safe in school,” though the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
