Greenfields Primary School

Overview

Greenfields Primary School is described as a place where pupils "enjoy coming to school" and behave "impeccably well," creating a "consistently calm" environment. The report highlights a "broad" curriculum with a "high focus on learning to read, write and communicate," noting that teachers possess "strong subject knowledge." While the school meets independent school standards, the report identifies specific curriculum areas requiring deeper development to ensure pupils retain learning effectively.

Strengths

• Pupils demonstrate "exemplary" behaviour and "exceptional" attitudes to learning within an "inclusive culture."
• A "rigorous and systematic approach" to phonics ensures pupils catch up quickly and read "confidently and fluently."
• Teachers "know their subjects well" and sequence learning effectively, particularly in English where skills "develop in maturity over time."
• Pupils with special needs receive "quick" assessments and "detailed plans" for support, enabling them to "learn well across the curriculum."
• Staff feel "well supported" by leaders, who consider workload and provide "appropriate training" for professional development.

Areas to improve

• In some subjects, the curriculum is "less well developed," meaning pupils do not study content in "sufficient depth" to make connections between topics.
• The school does not ensure pupils have opportunities to "revisit previous learning about different cultures," resulting in some pupils being unable to recall this content.

Safeguarding

The report states that "the arrangements for safeguarding are effective."
