Holy Cross Girls' Primary School

Overview

This sustaining improvement inspection was significantly limited because almost all teachers refused to cooperate with inspectors due to industrial action. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) could not fully evaluate the quality of learning, teaching, or the school’s capacity for improvement. The report concludes that the ETI is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.”

Strengths

• Year 6 pupils reported that they “take part in a wide range of enrichment activities which help them enjoy their learning and take pride in their school.”
• The school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education.”
• Pupils stated they “feel safe and cared for in school” and know who to speak to regarding safety concerns.

Areas to improve

• The report does not list specific areas for improvement because the inspection was unable to evaluate the school’s development plan or classroom practices due to staff non-cooperation.
• The school is designated as a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice” to address the lack of assurance regarding educational quality.

Safeguarding

The report states that while arrangements broadly reflect Department of Education guidance and pupils feel safe, the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements for safeguarding in the school” due to the industrial action.
