Holy Trinity Primary School

Overview

This report details a Sustaining Improvement Inspection conducted in May 2017, noting that the school’s previous overall effectiveness was evaluated as outstanding. However, because staff participated in industrial action involving non-cooperation with inspectors, the ETI was unable to evaluate key aspects of the school’s performance. Consequently, the inspectorate could not assure parents or stakeholders of the quality of education being provided.

Strengths

• The report confirms that the school’s previous inspection in 2014 evaluated its overall effectiveness as “outstanding”.
• Evidence provided indicated that “satisfactory arrangements for safeguarding reflect broadly the guidance issued by the relevant Departments”.
• Children reported that they “feel safe and happy in school” and know what to do if concerned about their safety.

Areas to improve

• The ETI was unable to evaluate “the lines of inquiry” or “the quality of learning and teaching within the classrooms” due to staff non-cooperation.
• The inspection could not assess the extent to which the school demonstrates its capacity for improvement through “self-evaluation and effective school planning”.
• The school is designated as a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice” to ensure quality assurance.

Safeguarding

The report states that while satisfactory arrangements were evidenced and children felt safe, the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements for safeguarding” due to the industrial action.
