This sustaining improvement inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teaching staff did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) could not evaluate classroom teaching or fully assess safeguarding, stating it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.”

Strengths

• A “common and consistently systematic approach” to developing children’s writing across various genres is evident in documentation and work samples.
• Literacy action plans focus clearly on the impact of actions on “learning experiences provided for, and the outcomes attained by, the children.”
• Year 6 and 7 pupils spoke “enthusiastically” about their writing, articulating maturely how they plan, draft, and improve their work.
• Children explained confidently the features of different genres and took pride in sharing writing “across the curriculum, and for a range of purposes and audiences.”
