• In some subjects, leaders have not identified precisely enough the sequence of skills and knowledge they would like pupils to learn, resulting in some pupils not being able to build on what they already know and deepen their understanding.
• Leaders need to make sure that subject leaders identify the explicit knowledge and skills they want pupils to acquire, correctly sequenced.
