Rubery Nursery School

Overview

Rubery Nursery School has taken effective action to maintain the standards identified at the previous inspection. The school fosters a calm, welcoming environment where children are happy, confident, and independent learners. Most children achieve well, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, and are well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Strengths

• The school’s vision of ‘inspiring independence, confidence and curiosity’ is evident, with children accessing exciting activities that spark interest.
• Relationships between staff, children, and families are described as ‘a real strength’, with adults using positive prompts and soothing voices.
• Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities are ‘well supported’, with needs quickly identified and activities expertly adapted.
• Staff make effective use of assessment to address misconceptions and continually adapt play activities to extend learning.
• Staff feel ‘well supported and fully involved’, with leaders responding to feedback to support workload and well-being.

Areas to improve

• Staff are not yet fully skilled in delivering the new curriculum, meaning some children do not develop their knowledge and understanding as well as they could. The school should ensure staff receive necessary support and training.
