The inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teachers did not cooperate with the process. Consequently, the ETI states it is “unable to assure... of the quality of education being provided” and could not evaluate key areas such as literacy outcomes or teaching quality.

Strengths

• Questionnaire responses from parents, staff, and children were “wholly positive,” highlighting a “supportive and welcoming ethos.”
• Year 7 children demonstrated they “read fluently, confidently and with appropriately high levels of interest.”
• Year 6 children “expressed great interest and enjoyment in learning” and use a “very good range of vocabulary.”
• Children value the “well-established shared education partnership” and enjoy a “good range of exciting learning opportunities.”
• The school development plan is “informed well by good consultation” and sets “appropriate targets.”

Areas to improve

• The evaluative sections of the school development plan are “expressed too broadly and lack incisive summation” of monitoring actions.
• The ETI was unable to fully evaluate the effectiveness of strategic leadership, middle leadership, and actions to sustain improvement.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” and children reported they feel safe and know how to stay safe online, though the ETI could not fully evaluate the outworking of these arrangements.
