Overview: The school does not meet all of the independent school standards that were checked during this inspection. The school continues to make progress in some areas but still requires improvement in others.

Strengths:

• The school has continued to embed the use of subject curriculum books to develop staff subject knowledge, with staff now demonstrating a secure knowledge and understanding of the curriculum they are teaching.
• Staff continue to receive training on strategies to check pupils' understanding, and are positive and enthusiastic to develop their practice.
• The school has an appropriate safeguarding policy that outlines how concerns about pupils' safety and welfare are reported and managed, and staff have received appropriate training and understand how to recognise and report safeguarding concerns.
• The school completes and records the appropriate checks and procedures when appointing new staff.

Areas to improve:

• Teaching staff have not consistently applied the strategies they have been trained on to check what pupils know and can do in the classroom, resulting in some pupils developing gaps in their knowledge and misconceptions which are not addressed.
• The school does not currently ensure that training is routinely applied in lessons, which is slowing the pace of change in the school.
• The school does not meet the requirements of the schedule to The Education (Independent School Standards) Regulations 2014, and associated requirements that were checked during this inspection.

Safeguarding: The school has an appropriate safeguarding policy that outlines how concerns about pupils' safety and welfare are reported and managed, and staff have received appropriate training and understand how to recognise and report safeguarding concerns.
