Overview: The school does not meet all of the independent school standards that were checked during this inspection. The school has made some progress in addressing some of the weaknesses identified at the previous inspection, but some aspects of teaching are still not secure, such as assessment.

Strengths:

• Subject teaching outside of mathematics and English is typically more effective across year groups.
• Curriculum implementation in core subjects is also appropriate.
• The school has purchased more reading books for children in the early years.
• The school continues to develop staff knowledge of how to teach, including a focus on using assessment effectively.
• The school’s safeguarding policy is up to date and reflects relevant statutory guidance.

Areas to improve:

• The school continues not to meet some of the independent school standards, including paragraphs 3(a), 3(c), 3(d), 3(g), 5(b), 5(b)(v), 5(b)(vi), 2(1), 2(1)(a), 2A(1), 2A(1)(b), 2A(1)(d), 2A(1)(f), 2(2), 2(2)(d), 2(2)(d)(ii), 2(2)(h), 2(2)(i), 34(1), 34(1)(a), and 34(1)(b).
• The school’s RSE and health education programme continues not to meet the statutory requirements for secondary-age pupils.
• The school’s strategic work lacks rigour and systems for checking the actions taken to improve the school are not robust.
• The school’s action plan lacks detail and does not outline how and when actions will be completed.

Safeguarding: The school continues to train staff on signs to look out for that a child may be at risk of harm, and leaders continue to promote a culture of safeguarding in the school. Pupils feel safe and have an adult who they can talk to if they have any worries.
