Overview: Pupils love school and are excited about arriving each day, with a strong sense of belonging and excellent behaviour. However, the school does not meet the independent school standards and requires improvement overall.

Strengths:

• Pupils have a strong sense of belonging and are safe.
• Pupils behave extremely well at all times and follow the school's behaviour policy consistently.
• Staff are well trained and deliver the school's phonics programme consistently well.
• Pupils achieve well at the end of key stage 2 and in their GCSE outcomes.
• The school has a clear overview of reading and promotes a love of reading across the school.

Areas to improve:

• The school does not ensure that its personal, social, health and economic (PSHE) education and relationships education programme complies with statutory guidance.
• In some areas of learning in the early years, the school has not identified precisely the important knowledge children should learn step by step.
• The curriculum in some foundation subjects in the primary phase lacks depth and ambition, and teachers' subject knowledge is variable in these subjects.
