Bocombra Primary School

Overview

This sustaining improvement inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teachers did not cooperate with the process. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) was unable to evaluate the quality of learning and teaching or assure stakeholders of the education provided. The school is designated as a "high priority for future inspection with no further notice."

Strengths

• Year 6 pupils spoke positively about their learning experiences, noting "clear strategies in place for receiving help with their work."
• Children appreciate the "wide range of extra-curricular activities available" and opportunities to learn alongside peers from another school.
• Pupils reported opportunities to develop leadership skills through roles such as house captains, librarians, and members of the school council.
• Children spoke enthusiastically about their responsibilities for saving energy and recycling as members of the eco-council.

Areas to improve

• The report does not list specific areas for improvement, as the ETI was "unable to evaluate" the line of inquiry or classroom teaching due to staff non-cooperation.

Safeguarding

The school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements "reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education," and pupils reported feeling safe, though the ETI was "unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements" due to the industrial action.
