Presentation Primary School

Overview

This sustaining improvement inspection focused on the school’s capacity for self-evaluation and the integration of ICT. Due to industrial action involving non-cooperation by teachers, the inspectorate could not fully evaluate classroom teaching or safeguarding practices. Consequently, the report states it is “unable to assure parents/carers... of the quality of education being provided for the children.”

Strengths

• Leadership demonstrates a “clear vision for the holistic integration of ICT through the whole curriculum.”
• “Excellent strategic planning for ICT” is reviewed annually, with professional development linked to a thorough audit of staff skills.
• A “robust cycle of self-evaluation leading to improvement is embedded effectively” to drive continuous development.
• Children have access to a “wide range of opportunities for using ICT,” including green screen areas and coding activities.
• Pupils report “very good opportunities to develop their leadership capabilities” through roles in various school councils.

Areas to improve

• The report does not list specific areas for improvement, as the inspectorate was “unable to evaluate fully the quality of learning and teaching within the classrooms.”

Safeguarding

The school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” but the inspectorate was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
