Carrowreagh Primary School

Overview

The inspection was conducted during industrial action, meaning teachers did not cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) states it is “unable to assure... of the quality education provided” and assigns “No performance level available” for outcomes, provision, and leadership. The school is designated a “high priority for future inspection with no further notice.”

Strengths

• Year 6 and 7 pupils spoke “very positively” about the encouragement they receive for “behaving well and caring for each other.”
• Children highlighted the “range of sporting and musical opportunities” and chances to take on “leadership roles.”
• Pupils spoke confidently about the benefits of the “environmental curriculum and Eco-initiatives.”
• Governors were described as “very knowledgeable” and reported being “kept well informed and involved.”

Areas to improve

• The employing authority, governors, and staff must plan for and manage issues related to the “sustainability of the school provision and school budget.”

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” and while pupils reported feeling safe, the ETI was “unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements” due to the industrial action.
