Garryduff Primary School

Overview

This sustaining improvement inspection was conducted while staff were participating in industrial action, resulting in non-cooperation with inspectors. Consequently, the ETI was unable to evaluate the quality of learning and teaching or assure stakeholders of the overall quality of education provided. The school is designated as a high priority for future inspection with no further notice.

Strengths

• Year 6 pupils spoke "very positively about all aspects of school life" and highlighted their enjoyment of activities such as the school choir.
• Children appreciate the "range of after-school activities offered," including cricket, football, gardening, and ICT.
• There are opportunities for pupils to develop leadership skills through the School Council and Eco Committee.
• The school holds a Green Flag Award as an Eco-school.

Areas to improve

• The school needs to "update the Anti-bullying Policy to reflect more fully current DE guidance."

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements "reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education," and pupils reported feeling safe, though the ETI was unable to fully evaluate the outworking of these arrangements due to the industrial action.
