Landhead Primary School

Overview

The inspection was significantly limited by industrial action, as teachers refused to cooperate with inspectors. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) states it is “unable to assure... of the quality of education being provided” and assigns no performance levels for outcomes, provision, or leadership.

Strengths

• Children spoke positively about their learning experiences and enjoyed using digital technologies, including “three-dimensional printing and software coding.”
• A group of Year 7 children reported that they “feel safe and happy in school” and know whom to contact with safety concerns.
• The school has previously achieved a Northern Ireland Digital Schools Award for integrating technology across the curriculum.

Areas to improve

• The school needs to complete its ongoing review of the Anti-bullying Policy and Drug Policy.
• The format of risk assessments requires revision.
• The employing authority and governors must plan for the “sustainability of the school provision and school budget” to address current and future needs.

Safeguarding

The report states that safeguarding arrangements “reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education,” though the ETI was unable to fully evaluate their outworking due to the industrial action.
