Cross Farm Infant Academy

Overview

Cross Farm Infant Academy is a mixed infant school with 117 pupils on the roll. The school has a warm and inclusive environment where pupils celebrate individuality and feel safe and well cared for. However, the school requires improvement in its overall effectiveness and the quality of education.

Strengths

• Pupils are welcomed into a warm and inclusive school that celebrates individuality.
• Staff have set high expectations for behaviour that pupils readily rise to.
• Pupils benefit from a variety of opportunities beyond the academic curriculum, including music and clubs.
• Staff identify individual needs of pupils as early as possible and provide bespoke support.
• Behaviour across the school is good, with pupils living up to the school's values of kindness and compassion.

Areas to improve

• Improvements across the whole school curriculum are in the early stages of implementation, and pupils cannot always remember key knowledge and make links with their previous learning.
• In some foundation subjects, teachers do not always design tasks that enable pupils to build knowledge systematically.
• Teachers do not always check if pupils are secure in their knowledge and skills before moving on to new learning.

Safeguarding

The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
