Sandringham Infant & Nursery Academy

Overview

Sandringham Infant & Nursery Academy continues to be a good school, characterised by a "kind and caring ethos" where everyone is valued. Since new leaders joined in September 2023, the school has refined its curriculum and behaviour policies, resulting in a "calm and purposeful atmosphere" that supports focused learning.

Strengths

• Pupils are "confident that staff help them if they are unsure or worried," fostering warm and friendly interactions.
• The curriculum is meticulously structured, with staff identifying "precise steps pupils must work through" to build knowledge effectively.
• Reading is given the "highest priority," with all pupils reading for pleasure daily using texts chosen to broaden their understanding of the world.
• Staff make appropriate adaptations for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), aided by early identification in nursery.
• Behaviour standards are high, with pupils described as "enthusiastic, polite and courteous" who understand the rules keenly.

Areas to improve

• The school must ensure reading sessions provide weaker readers with the "precise support they need to catch up quickly," as some do not develop phonics knowledge well enough.

Safeguarding

The report states that "the arrangements for safeguarding are effective."
