Gaelscoil na Daróige

Overview

This report details a Sustaining Improvement Inspection conducted in June 2017, which was significantly compromised by industrial action involving non-cooperation from staff. Consequently, the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI) was unable to evaluate the quality of education or assure parents of the school's effectiveness at that time. A subsequent visit in November 2017 provided further evidence regarding safeguarding arrangements and identified a specific health and safety concern.

Strengths

• The report notes that the school was previously evaluated as "good" in 2014, demonstrating the "capacity to identify and bring about improvement."
• During the November 2017 follow-up, the school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements "reflect broadly the guidance from the Department of Education."

Areas to improve

• The school must "review the lighting and condition of the footpath at the entrance to the school grounds" to address health and safety issues.
• The ETI was unable to evaluate progress on embedding processes for "monitoring and self evaluation," a priority from the 2014 inspection, due to the lack of cooperation.

Safeguarding

While the school provided evidence that safeguarding arrangements broadly reflect Departmental guidance during a November 2017 visit, the ETI stated it was "unable to evaluate fully the outworking of the arrangements" because it could not speak to the children due to the ongoing industrial action.
